Text Effects
With adobe photoshop you can create amazing text effects
All the following actions are by using photoshop cs (Version 8).
Let's start by opening the adobe photoshop software.
Select from the menu File >>> New.
Now create a file with 300 pixels width and 300 pixels height.
From the layers toolbox, click with the right button of the mouse on the background layer, and select Duplicate Layer.
From the left menu select the Paint Bucket Tool and pick any color you want, then click on the white image to paint the image background color with the color you have chosen. .
All The Effects
Select the Horizontal Text tool from the left menu and mark where you want to type the text, Now select color from the upper menu, and choose black. Enter some text.
Click the right mouse button on the text layer from the layers toolbox, where there is a big T, and choose the blending options button.
Each one of the checkboxes in this window creates a special effect, you can just put X on all of the options and see the effects you created. Now lets explain about the checkbox there.
The Drop Shadow option creates a nice shadow to the text, you can control on the opacity of the shadow, you can control where the shadow will be (Distance), the boldness of the text(Spread) and the size. And of course the color. All of the other options on the drop shadow are not relevant now.

The Outer Glow option creates a glow around the text, the main things you can control are the spread, the size of the glow and the glow color.
The Bevel and Emboss creates special effect in the inner of the text, with the texture you can select the actual effect of the text inner, use size and soften to control the effect.
Color overlay is used to change the text color but in another way, it will not go over the inner text effects.
The Gradient Overlay creates a special gradient effect in the inner text , a very useful tool, you can choose the gradient type by the style option, the gradient colors, the angle and scale.
The last and important effect is the stroke, which paint's a border around the text. I usually use the stroke by choosing the color which is different from the text color and the background, and choosing the 1px size.
